Saffron Cooking
Saffron is the ingredient considered to be the caviar of the spice rack. Saffron spices have been used in cooking for 1000’s of years and looking at saffron history one will find many mentions of the spice in texts. Originally Arabic people used saffron, but as trade routes developed the saffron spices spread to the west and rest of world where saffron is today enjoyed by millions of people worldwide.

Some of the worlds most renowned chefs regard saffron as a special ingredient in dishes that can just not be replaced. Saffron is used in cooking to both add color and to add flavor. Saffron is used as a coloring agent in dishes such as saffron rice and paella from Spain where it leaves a yellow tinge to the dish.
